About OsteoPlaza

Our philosophy

Osteopathy is a manual therapy focused on restoring physical balance and promoting the body’s natural healing power. The goal is to improve mobility, thereby enhancing the individual’s health. What makes osteopathy unique is its focus on the underlying causes of complaints, not just relieving symptoms. Osteopaths use hands-on techniques to improve the mobility of muscles, joints, and tissues, enabling the body to heal itself more effectively.

Our philosophy

The impact of osteopathic treatments

Osteopathic treatments emphasize the close relationship between the body, mind, and overall health. These treatments aim to restore balance in the body by improving the mobility of muscles, joints, and tissues. Better mobility stimulates natural blood and lymph circulation, as well as nerve functions.

My goal with each client is to balance the autonomic nervous system, including the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. This nervous system regulates automatic functions such as heart rate, breathing, and digestion. The sympathetic system activates in stressful situations or danger, initiating the ‘fight-or-flight’ response. This increases heart rate and breathing, releasing energy for the muscles while slowing down digestion.

Our philosophy

Balance in the neurovegetative nervous system

The parasympathetic nervous system provides rest and relaxation in the body. It becomes active during calm moments, slowing heart rate and breathing, and stimulating digestion so the body can recover. Restoring the balance between this system and the activating sympathetic nervous system is an important task for osteopaths, as it can resolve many health issues.

Take stomach complaints, for example: these can arise if a vertebra in the upper neck is blocked, affecting the vagus nerve, a key parasympathetic nerve. This can lead to issues with stomach function, as the stomach may not produce digestive juices at the right time, causing digestive problems. To balance the autonomic nervous system, I mobilize and/or manipulate the neck, allowing the vagus nerve to function properly again.

Our philosophy

Osteopathy and the body as a whole

Osteopathy is based on the principle that the body functions as a whole, where disturbances in one part can affect other parts and even the emotional and mental state of a person. Therefore, effective osteopathic treatment addresses not only physical complaints but also underlying emotional or mental stress factors that can impact health. Osteopathy aims to restore balance between body and mind, which is crucial for achieving optimal health and well-being.

As an osteopath, I continually develop myself to treat my clients as effectively as possible. I do this by studying the latest research and attending relevant continuing education courses where I learn new techniques and treatment methods within my field. Treatment is not limited to the treatment table; an essential part is supporting the healing process with dietary advice, exercises, and prevention tips. I also collaborate with professionals from various disciplines, such as physiotherapists, orthomolecular therapists, and psychologists, to accelerate healing.
